For 88 years, NBFC has been at the forefront of providing the finest seafood from the cool, clear waters of the Northumberland Strait and St. George’s Bay.

Our story began with a simple yet powerful mission: to give local fishers greater control over the markets for their harvest. Over the years, as the tides of the fishery and community have ebbed and flowed, North Bay Co-op has adeptly navigated through challenges and changes, continually finding its place in an evolving industry.
Quality is paramount
Today, our Co-op is proudly owned by 27 members, each deeply invested in the tradition of lobster fishing. But our bounty doesn’t end there – our waters are also rich with tuna, halibut, herring, and snow crab, offering a diverse catch that is reflective of our vibrant maritime ecosystem.
At North Bay Co-op, quality is paramount. Being fisher-owned means every member of our team, from the boat to the holding facility, is deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards. We engage in ongoing research in collaboration with local universities, ensuring our vessels and lobster pounds provide optimal conditions for our catch. Our staff and fishers are trained in best practices for lobster handling, and our facilities continuously meet the rigorous standards of certification for Canadian food operations.
